Trees are the natural coolant of our planet. They help lower temperatures by absorbing carbon dioxide, one of the primary causes of global warming, and releasing oxygen. At Talent Foundation, we recognize the urgency of addressing climate change and the significant role trees play in this fight. Our campaign, #CoolThePlanet, aims to plant and nurture 1,00,000 plants across multiple states in India, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Delhi NCR, and Rajasthan, in 2024. This initiative not only involves planting trees but also ensuring their growth and survival through regular nurturing and maintenance.

Join us in this vital campaign. Select a tree and a location, and let us know if you will do the planting yourself, have a family member or friend do it on your behalf, or if you would like us to handle it for you. We will provide you with pictures or videos of the planting event, including GPS location, along with progress reports on the plants. Be a part of this movement to cool the planet and make a lasting impact on our environment.

Bihar

Rural and Urban Areas with High Need for Green Cover These selected districts have a significant need for green cover due to high levels of deforestation and urban expansion. Rural areas face severe ecological degradation, while urban centers suffer from pollution and lack of green spaces. Planting trees in these areas will enhance air quality, provide shade, and improve the overall environment.

Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh has extensive areas of degraded lands, often due to over-cultivation, deforestation, and industrial activities. Community spaces in these districts can benefit from increased greenery, which will help restore soil fertility, prevent erosion, and provide aesthetic and recreational value to the local population.

Jharkhand

Jharkhand’s economy is heavily reliant on mining, which has led to significant environmental degradation and health issues for local communities. Tribal regions often face neglect and lack of resources. Planting trees in these areas will help rehabilitate mined lands, restore ecological balance, and improve the quality of life for tribal communities.

West Bengal

West Bengal’s coastal areas, especially the Sundarbans, are vulnerable to climate change, sea-level rise, and cyclones. Urban centers like Kolkata face severe air pollution and lack of green spaces. Planting trees will mitigate these environmental challenges by providing coastal protection, enhancing urban air quality, and increasing biodiversity.

Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand’s hill regions have suffered from deforestation, leading to soil erosion, landslides, and loss of biodiversity. Reforestation efforts in these districts will stabilize the soil, prevent landslides, and restore native flora and fauna, contributing to the overall ecological health of the region.

Delhi NCR

Delhi NCR is one of the most polluted urban areas in the world, facing severe air quality issues and a shortage of green spaces. Urban tree planting will significantly improve air quality, reduce the urban heat island effect, and provide much-needed recreational spaces for the population.

Rajasthan

Rajasthan’s arid regions face extreme temperatures, water scarcity, and desertification. Planting drought-resistant and native trees in these areas will help combat desertification, provide shade, and improve microclimates. Additionally, it will support community lands by enhancing soil fertility and offering economic benefits through agroforestry practices.

Mango (आम)

Gulmohar (गुलमोहर)

Banyan (बरगद)

Banj oak

Banj oak has a full, rounded canopy. The bark is a smooth tan-brown at first, becoming lightly furrowed and corky with age. The leaves are alternate, elongated ovals with jagged teeth.
